A track, a bike and an energy bar that never stops draining. Mountain Bike is FreeOnlineGames' 2008 bike-racing game, and its own instructions give the whole rule: ride as fast as you can to the end of the track, and if you reach it before your energy bar hits zero you move on to the next level. The red energy pills strung along the way top the bar back up, so a run is a fight with your own stamina as much as with the course.\n\nBehind the title screen the game is a run of levels -- ten of them in the movie's own code -- each closed by a Level Completed panel, with One Life Lost and Game Over screens waiting when the bar finally empties. A high-score table keeps the day's and the all-time top scorers, and the game asks for a nickname before it files a score. It is a small, brisk browser racer of the sort that filled the portal arcades of its year.
