Pharaoh's Treasure

A board of carved tiles and a target number to reach. Pharaoh's Treasure is FreeOnlineGames' 2009 tile puzzle, and its own instructions set the scene: the treasure lies in a secret room in one of the pyramids, and Pharaoh has blocked the passage to the riches with a clever scoring method -- you have to match the tile symbols to get at it. Across the board the game keeps its running tally: the level, a target figure, how much of the board is left to clear, and a small stock of hints for when the grid will not give up its matches.\n\nMatch the tiles and the board falls toward the target; clear a level and it is scored and the next one begins, with the level number climbing each time. The dressing is Egyptian -- glyph-carved tiles, sandstone panels, a mummy-wrap palette -- and the game keeps a nickname-and-score board behind the menu. It is a still, deliberate puzzle of the sort the portal arcades kept beside their shooters.
