I.T. Kid

Rail of War is YoudaGames' 2007 action game of armoured trains. Each of the ten missions is a stretch of track to fight down, with enemy raiders, gun emplacements and junctions standing between you and the far end. The mouse aims and fires; the train's own speed and armour carry you through the worst of it.

Every mission you finish unlocks something -- a new locomotive, a heavier weapon, another map -- so the campaign is a ladder of hardware as much as of difficulty. The maps are time trials as well: run a clean line and the game keeps it as your best Rail Rage score beside the mission.

It is a shooter that runs on rails, and the trick is knowing when to slow down for the shot and when to open the throttle and drive straight through.
