Seesaw
A bag of letter tiles, a locked room and a voice that would rather play games than let you leave. Seesaw is a word puzzle with a horror-film framing: it opens on a protagonist waking in a derelict room -- 'where am I??' -- and hands you sets of letters to work into words to get out. The tiles tumble and spin like chance pieces, but the puzzle underneath is a plain one: find the word in the letters you are given.
FreeOnlineGames published it in 2009, and the presentation is what sets it apart from the browser word games around it -- the blood-flecked title card, the hanging hooks and the flickering thought bubbles all do the same work. There is an intro to sit through and a SKIP INTRO for when you would rather not, and a high-score board waiting on the menu when the words are done.
