Tower Defence

A map, a stream of enemies and a clock ticking down. Tower Defence is FreeOnlineGames' 2009 defence game, and it sets its one task plainly: enemies come on and you hold them off. A timer counts down across the top of the screen with a menu button beside it, the game tracks what you have left as its own row of icons, and the wave's enemies -- four kinds in the movie's own code, some faster than others -- keep arriving while the clock runs.\n\nThe score is survival as much as it is kills: the game's own ending line reads 'You survived for ...' before it takes the number for the board. A nickname-and-score table sits behind the menu, and the title card keeps the wrapper's Game Instructions and View High Scores links beside its Play button. It is a compact, click-and-hold browser defence game, the kind that turns five minutes into twenty.
